blackberry bold touch 9900 with OS 7 is now available

"A bold step ahead. The new BlackBerry Bold touch 9900 smartphone is available now." According to its-berry.com, that's how RIM just recently described the new BlackBerry on its own Website. Another tidbit was revealed before being pulled: "Blackberry is believing. Experience the new BlackBerry 7 OS with its brilliant, fluid Liquid Graphics touch screen.
RIM co-CEO Jim Balsillie recently confirmed that the company has decided to give BlackBerry 6.1 a version number bump to 7. Blackberry touch with BlackBerry 7 will offer a wide range of new features, including support for magnetometers for motion sensing, enhanced gaming with OpenGL ES 2.0 support, improved browsing with accelerated Javascript performance using JIT compilation, as well as a number of other improvements. Check out the full list here.
In addition to BlackBerry 7, the BlackBerry Touch is expected to offer a 2.8-inch VGA capacitive touch screen, full QWERTY keyboard, Wi-Fi Wireless-N connectivity, 3G mobile hotspot functionality, 4GB internal memory, 5-megapixel camera with HD video recording and flash, as well as NFC support.
This of course isn't the first time we've seen the BlackBerry 9900. In fact, the entire spec sheet of the device is right out in the open. However, it's still not official and today's leak is as official as it's going to get before RIM actually makes the announcement.
The BlackBerry 9900 is expected to be the only device announced at BlackBerry World with announcements for theBlackBerry Touch (Monza/Monaco) and BlackBerry Curve Touch coming at a later date.
BlackBerry 7 OS on solid hardware
BlackBerry 9900 and 9930 are the first phones to feature the new BlackBerry 7 OS with its Liquid Graphics that promises a faster performance. Swiping, zooming and scrolling around apps and websites will be fast and easy. Aside being fast, BlackBerry 7 OS adds some interesting features to BlackBerry phones like improved universal search with voice enabled search, support for Near Field Communication (NFC), support for 720p HD video recording, and support for augmented reality apps.
BlackBerry 7 OS is not solely responsible for the high performance of the BlackBerry 9900 and 9930. These two phones feature a powerful 1.2GHz processor with 768MB RAM, contributing to its super fast performance. This could also be the reason BlackBerry 7 OS may not run in older BlackBerry phones and why RIM is pushing new BlackBerry 7 OS phones to the market.
A BB Bold with Touchscreen & QWERTY keyboard
Like the BlackBerry Torch 9800, BlackBerry Bold Touch 9900 and 9930 combines a touchscreen with a QWERTY keyboard, the same 35-key trademark QWERTY keyboard available on most BlackBerry phones. However, BlackBerry Bold Touch features the standard BB Bold candy bar design (not slide as in Torch 9800).
Blackberry Bold Touch has a 2.8-inch Touchscreen offering a VGA resolution of 480 x 360 pixels. The display quality is good, but not HD. So, although BlackBerry Bold 9900 and 9930 can record 720p HD, you cannot watch HD quality on its display. Like in the Blackberry Bold 9700 and later BB Bold phones, the Bold Touch features a Touch-sensitive optical trackpad, which is easier to use than the trackball. Users can easily switch from touchscreen to keyboard or trackpad seamlessly.
A HD 5MP Camera
Although some users are demanding for more, the Blackberry Bold 9900 Touch and 9930 features a 5 megapixels camera. This on the face value will look similar to the camera on Bold 9780 and Torch 9800, but the 5 megapixel camera on BB Bold Touch is more sensitive offering up to 720p HD video recording, much better than the VGA camera on Bold 9780 and Torch 9800 The camera features autofocus, image stabilisation, LED flash, 2× digital zoom, face detection, and Geotagging.
Data and Network support
The major difference between the two Blackberry Bold Touch phones is that BlackBerry Bold Touch 9900 is a Tri-Band WCDMA/HSPA+ phone with Quad-Band GSM/EDGE support, while BlackBerry Bold Touch 9930 is a Dual-Band CDMA/EVDO Rev A, Dual-Band WCDMA/HSPA+, and Quad-Band GSM/EDGE phone. So in summary Bold Touch 9930 adds a CDMA/EVDO Rev.A radio to the Touch 9900.
