Sony Walkman NWZ-W202 Review

Say goodbye to dangling cords and relish the joy of music with Sony's NWZ-W202PNK Walkman® MP3 Player. A Headphone-style WALKMAN that features quick charging, drag and drop transfers and the new ZAPPIN song-browsing technology, this gadget lets you do chores with complete wireless freedom.
Weighing only 35 grams or 1.3oz, the wrap-around headphones compromises the entire being of this music player. The built is actually clever-an approximately 2 inches long earpieces with magnet strips that'll hold the earpieces together when not in use, connected by a neckband of course. Though the design of the earpieces looks quite conspicuous (as it looks like some Bluetooth device clipped on your ear), it's still elegant and pretty much tells you that the gadget is ideal for outdoors and workouts.
Essential controls are situated well. The tiny wheel(or jog dial) on the bottom panel of the right earpiece allows you to play, pause, skip tracks and also controls the Zappin feature which is exclusive to this device. So what does this feature do? The Zappin function allows you to preview the chorus of each song for about 4 or 15 seconds (depending on your choice). It helps you recognize tracks quickly for easy song surfing. The sound effects when you activate Zappin are pretty cool, by the way. Next to the wheel also a volume rocker, a reset pinhole and a mini-USB connector. Inside the earpiece is a switch for Shuffle if you wish to utilize it. There's also a white LED strip that serves as a status indicator and an OPR lamp to let you know when your player needs to be charged. A volume-limiting function is also available and can be activated by holding down both the wheel ad volume-up button for five seconds. The controls are quite confusing; you might wanna check the manual first before using this.
The stand that comes out with it is really neat. There's a built-in USB connection for you to attach the player when you're not using it. It's actually good that Sony decided to include it in the package instead of selling it separately. Fast transfer and charging is also a remarkable feat of this product. Just three minutes of charging will give you 90 minutes of playing and the Content Software transfer allows you to drag and drop music files from your PC and Walkman.
Sound quality is great. Its 13.55mm EX earphones gives crisp clear audio and the soft silicon earbuds fits perfectly well (the package comes in 3 different sizes of rubber inserts). You can move all you want with the earpiece still in place. The device doesn't have any noise canceling function but the in-ear earphones compensates for this, filtering out significant amount of background noise.
Overall the product is awesome. It's just too bad there's no FM Radio (which is quite disappointing) and bass adjustments function. It would have also been better if it had a function to scroll between albums (folders) rather than having to scroll one song at a time (but the Zappin technology is still great) and were available in capacities above 2GB.
Sony's NWZ-W202PNK Walkman® might not click to those who want to use their favorite earphones (since it's really not possible), and wouldn't really replace an iPod for regular use. But for a person who enjoys an active lifestyle, this gadget is definitely for you.
